The new interface will launch on the 2027 Silverado and Sierra pickups in late 2026.
On 18 September 2026, General Motors introduced a redesigned software interface for its 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 full-size pickup trucks. The system expands display space to more than 60 inches on select configurations, simplifies controls for trailering and off-roading, and allows GM native software to coexist alongside Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The pickups are scheduled to launch in late 2026, supported by subsequent over-the-air updates.
The redesign aims to build higher recurring revenue from vehicle software. At the end of 2025, GM recorded $5.4 billion in deferred revenue from OnStar services, an increase of 65% year over year, with 12 million subscribers. Its Super Cruise driver-assistance system surpassed 620,000 subscribers and generated $234 million in 2025 revenue. By the end of 2026, GM projects OnStar subscribers will exceed 13 million, deferred OnStar revenue will reach approximately $7.5 billion, and Super Cruise revenue will approach $400 million.
Software still represents a small portion of the overall business. In 2025, automotive services and other revenue totaled $5.7 billion, compared with $160.5 billion from vehicle, parts, and accessories sales. GM North America generated $154.3 billion in revenue in 2025, but its adjusted EBIT margin declined to 6.8% from 9.2% in 2024. The automaker also invested $8.5 billion in research and development during 2025 across software, driver assistance, and vehicle engineering.
