Shares dropped to $220.89 as the company launched IBM Agent Identity in public preview.
IBM shares dropped about 2.0% to $220.89 at 9:52 a.m. Eastern Time on Monday, Sept. 28, 2026. The move came as the company announced it is bringing its agent identity and credential management tools into Nvidia OpenShell.
The suite is designed to manage autonomous AI agents operating within enterprise systems. IBM Agent Identity, currently in public preview, establishes the identity and authority of each agent. HashiCorp Vault manages credential access, while IBM Identity Protection alerts security teams to unmonitored agents. In addition, Red Hat OpenShift provides an environment to run these agents across various computing platforms.
The announcement represents an expansion for IBM's software portfolio, but it did not disclose contract values, product pricing, or a target release date for the full version of Agent Identity.
