Lockheed Martin signs deal to build eFTG system for Metatek
The agreement includes a seven-year exclusivity term and an option for an additional instrument.
Lockheed Martin agreed to manufacture and sell a new Enhanced Full Tensor Gravity Gradiometry (eFTG) instrument to Metatek Group. The deal announced on October 6, 2026, also gives Metatek seven years of global exclusivity for the purchase of new eFTG systems.
The contract includes preferential pricing for Metatek to purchase an additional eFTG instrument. If Metatek exercises this option, the global exclusivity period will extend by another two years, reaching a total of nine years. Manufacturing of the new instrument is expected to take approximately three years.
Metatek deployed its first eFTG system just over five years ago and currently operates two instruments, with a third scheduled to enter service shortly. Dr. Mark Davies, chief executive officer of Metatek, stated that the agreement secures the company's next two eFTG instruments on attractive terms and preserves long-term exclusivity.
