North American users gain access across 10 European nations through October.
Lyft announced on September 30, 2026, that its app is now live for North American travelers in Europe. Early access begins in Barcelona and Hamburg, followed by an expansion throughout October to cities such as London, Rome, Paris, Berlin, Athens, and Warsaw.
By the end of October, riders traveling to Spain, Italy, Greece, Poland, England, Scotland, Ireland, Austria, France, and Germany can use their existing accounts and payment methods without downloading a separate application. Lyft tested the functionality during beta trials across Europe over the summer.
Every market we connect makes the network stronger for riders and drivers. This expansion takes us from being your neighborhood rideshare app to a global, multi-mobility platform.
The international rollout relies on a new backend framework designed to connect the Lyft application directly to third-party marketplaces and local driver supplies. In Europe, this integration routes trip demand to fleets operating on Freenow by Lyft and Gett by Lyft, whose existing regional users will keep using their local apps.
The company also plans to introduce a currency selection feature over the next year. That update will allow passengers to decide whether to pay in their home currency, such as US dollars, or in local European currencies like euros.
