Marvell Technology has expanded its long-term strategic partnership with Austrian manufacturer AT&S to increase advanced integrated circuit (IC) substrate capacity. The agreement focuses on securing critical supplies for next-generation artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure.
Marvell Technology is the customer behind AT&S's previously announced expansion of its manufacturing site in Kulim, Malaysia. The expansion at the Kulim site includes the fit-out of Plant 2 and the construction of a new manufacturing facility dedicated to IC substrate cores and advanced packaging.
The semiconductor industry is transitioning from monolithic chips toward chiplet-based designs and custom accelerators. This structural shift requires larger substrate formats, higher integration density, and increased layer counts to deliver enhanced performance and power efficiency.
