Mastercard and BMO announced on October 1, 2026, the rollout of a new embedded commercial payments capability for enterprise software platforms. The expansion makes BMO the first Mastercard issuer in Canada to offer integrated embedded virtual card payments inside participating systems.

The tool is available to eligible Corporate Card clients in Canada and the United States. It connects payments into enterprise resource planning, procurement, accounts payable, and travel management systems using the Mastercard Commercial Express framework.

Through this setup, businesses can pay supplier invoices, travel bookings, and corporate expenses directly inside their routine workflows rather than using external banking portals.

Diane Miquelon, Senior Vice President of Financial Institutions Partnerships at Mastercard Canada, stated that embedding virtual cards directly into treasury platforms removes friction and helps companies manage working capital with enhanced control and security.
