Minerva Foods is expanding its business beyond animal proteins. The South American beef exporter distributes Alma Lusa extra virgin olive oil nationwide across Brazil, a brand developed exclusively for the company and produced with 100% Portuguese raw materials.

The company first introduced the brand in 2019 and featured it at APAS Show 2026. Minerva Foods noted that Brazil's olive oil market moves about 100,000 tons per year, offering growth potential as per capita consumption remains below European levels.

Daniela Arantes, global head of marketing and communications at Minerva Foods, stated that the entry into the segment was based on studies that found opportunities in a market concentrated among a few large players. Arantes explained that the product was developed for Brazilian consumer tastes and can be used for both preparing and finishing dishes.

This push complements Minerva Foods' broader diversification into fish, lamb, vegetables, frozen potatoes, and breaded items. The company recently launched a 250-milliliter version of Alma Lusa to serve varied consumer profiles and occasions.
