Outgoing CEO Armando Herrera will transition to senior advisor through January 2027.
Nu Holdings subsidiary Nu México appointed Estephany Ley as its new chief executive officer, replacing Armando Herrera. The leadership change will take effect in November as the digital bank strengthens its strategic operations in Mexico.
Armando Herrera, who led the Mexican unit since September 2, 2025, will become a senior advisor to Estephany Ley and assist with the leadership transition until January 2027. Nu México also named Rodrigo Kuri as chairman of its board of directors.
The executive reshuffle follows Nu México's transition into a bank. Livia Chanes, CEO of Nubank for Latin America, stated that Armando Herrera completed key milestones including the banking transformation, securing business profitability, and sustaining growth, making it the right moment to open a new chapter.
Estephany Ley brings more than 15 years of experience in the banking and financial sectors, having previously served as corporate director of retail banking at BanCoppel. Rodrigo Kuri has over 25 years of experience, including previous roles as CEO of retail banking at Banco Nacional de México and deputy general director at Banco Santander in Mexico, as well as head of digital transformation for Openbank in Spain.
