The digital lender crossed six million customers in the country, its executives announced.
Nu Holdings will invest COP 5 trillion in its Colombian unit over the next five years, CEO David Vélez announced on 18 September 2026. Speaking at the Latam Fintech Market, Vélez stated that the group is very optimistic about Colombia's growth and aims to build one of the largest financial institutions in the country.
Marcela Torres, general manager of Nu Colombia, revealed during the event that the digital bank has exceeded six million customers in the country. She highlighted that Nu has advanced across three key operational fronts.
Torres noted that Nu Colombia now holds the fourth-largest retail deposit base in the country. She also said that nearly 40% of the bank's new customers over the past year had never had an account or credit product with the formal financial sector. On fraud metrics, Torres added that the platform operates below overall market risk levels.
