Nvidia commits $1 billion to advance US science over 5 years
The funding supports quantum computing, healthcare and energy security initiatives.
Nvidia announced commitments valued at $1 billion on Oct. 8, 2026, to expand super intelligence research and development across the United States over the next five years. The initiative targets critical fields including quantum computing, healthcare and energy security.
The company revealed the program during the Science: A New Golden Age event in Washington, D.C., where public officials and industry leaders met to discuss public-private research partnerships. The U.S. Office of Science and Technology Policy highlighted the expansion of the federal Genesis Mission, in which Nvidia serves as a leading industry partner.
With a $1 billion investment, NVIDIA is putting advanced Super Intelligence in the hands of America's scientists to accelerate breakthroughs in medicine, energy and materials. This is how America turns scientific leadership into industrial leadership, and innovation into jobs and opportunity for generations.
The five-year funding program will support higher-education research institutions, quantum technology development and cloud service providers serving government missions. Nvidia is also participating in phase 2 Genesis Mission awards across fusion, microelectronics, accelerator design and quantum computing.
The agreement expands more than two decades of collaboration between Nvidia and U.S. national laboratories. Last year, the company partnered with the U.S. Department of Energy to construct the agency's largest scientific supercomputer at Argonne National Laboratory, while backing seven new systems across Argonne and Los Alamos National Laboratories.
