Oracle signs Texas wind PPA with Scout Clean Energy
The tech firm secures output from the 300 MW Ranchero Wind Farm as part of a 1.7 GW renewable push.
Scout Clean Energy announced on October 7, 2026, that it signed a virtual power purchase agreement with
Oracle. Under the agreement, Oracle secures a majority of the output from Scout's operational 300-megawatt Ranchero Wind Farm in Crockett County, Texas.
The contract forms part of Oracle's broader investment in more than 1.7 gigawatts of renewable energy projects across Texas. Ranchero reached commercial operations in 2019 and generates enough electricity each year to power 177,000 homes. Scout, a Brookfield portfolio company, noted that the site will also contribute over $57 million in local property taxes over its operational lifetime.
Oracle is securing clean power supplies to meet surging electricity demand from its artificial intelligence operations. Julia Robin, Head of Infrastructure Planning for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, stated that the project supports the company's target to match 100 percent of its custom AI data center electricity usage with carbon-free power by 2035.
