Oracle trucks natural gas to power its data centers
The temporary fuel deliveries aim to avoid pipeline construction delays.
Oracle is delivering natural gas by truck to several data centers to stay on schedule while awaiting pipeline infrastructure, according to a Bloomberg report on October 8, 2026.
The company relied on truck deliveries for over a year to keep a facility near Salt Lake City running. Oracle is also using the method at an OpenAI campus in Shackelford County, Texas, and is considering it for its Project Jupiter site in New Mexico. Energy Transfer had to reroute the New Mexico pipeline after state regulators rejected the initial path, delaying targeted service from this summer to next year.
Last month, Oracle issued a force majeure notice to the New Mexico project developer to shield itself from certain delay-related payments. The company hired Certarus, a unit of Superior Plus, for the Utah site and VoltaGrid for the Texas campus.
Oracle publicly praised the VoltaGrid team on social media for providing cost-effective power solutions to keep Oracle Cloud Infrastructure capacity on track. The report noted that Oracle's free cash flow remains negative and is expected to stay negative until more artificial intelligence data centers are finished.
