Qualcomm faces Arm in five-day Delaware jury trial
Qualcomm seeks up to a five-year suspension of royalty payments to Arm under their licensing pact.
Qualcomm and Arm Holdings returned to federal court in Delaware on Monday for a jury trial before U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika. The scheduled five-day proceeding focuses on potential damages in their long-running legal dispute.
In the trial, Qualcomm is seeking to suspend its royalty payments to Arm for up to five years. The existing licensing contract between the two chip designers runs until 2033.
Arm initially filed its breach of contract lawsuit against Qualcomm in 2022. The legal fight followed Qualcomm's acquisition of chip startup Nuvia in 2021 for 1.4 billion dollars, after which Arm sent a formal notice in 2024 threatening to terminate Qualcomm's chip architecture license.
