RTX wins an SM-6 missile contract worth up to $24.4 billion
The five-year agreement includes two option years to supply interceptors to the U.S. Navy.
RTX business Raytheon secured a multi-year contract valued at up to $24.4 billion to produce Standard Missile-6 interceptors for the U.S. Navy. The agreement covers a five-year base period with two additional option years to expand output of the multi-mission munition.
The long-term order builds on prior agreements with the Department of War to ensure a consistent supply of interceptors. The SM-6 can execute anti-air warfare, anti-surface warfare, and ballistic missile defense, and it can launch from ship-based platforms as well as land launchers.
SM-6's multi-mission capability is vital to our customer, and Raytheon is intensely focused on meeting the demand. By continuously investing in our operations and facilities, we are removing constraints and boosting capacity to ensure we deliver this critical capability our sailors depend on.
Raytheon noted it has expanded its skilled workforce, deepened supplier partnerships, and automated production lines to handle rising demand. RTX, headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, employs more than 180,000 workers globally and generated over $88 billion in sales in 2025.
