Sanepar cuts base water tariffs by 25% starting in October

Companhia de Saneamento do Paraná (Sanepar) will apply an automatic 25% discount on the minimum water and sewage tariff starting October 1. The reduction covers the first 5 cubic meters of consumption and will appear in the additional information section of customer bills.

The financial benefit stems from court-ordered debt payments received from Brazil's federal government. This follows a legal dispute lasting over 30 years regarding improper income tax charges between 1994 and 1996.

Alongside the lower rate, Sanepar introduced a redesigned invoice format. The document highlights the account registration number, the total amount due, and the due date at the top. The company will also soon allow customers to include a spouse's name and full address to assist those who use the bill as proof of residence.

The layout redesign updates the water meter reading table and introduces a centralized notice area for pending debts or unusual consumption changes. The company also structured the bill to meet future tax reform requirements and will print bills in pink next month to support breast cancer awareness.
