Volaris launches disruption coverage for flight delays
The optional service powered by HTS offers rebooking or a 100% refund for delays over two hours.
Mexican ultra-low-cost carrier
Volaris announced the launch of a new service called Disruption Assistance on October 5, 2026. The offering is powered by Hopper Technology Solutions, known as HTS, and sends notifications to travelers experiencing disruptions such as delays exceeding two hours or same-day flight cancellations.
Passengers who purchase this coverage can choose between two main options when a delay passes two hours or when a flight is canceled on the day of departure. They can rebook their trip on Volaris or choose another airline, with the rebooking cost covered by HTS. Alternatively, if no available flight fits their schedule, customers can request a 100% refund of their travel cost through a self-service tool.
The airline stated that this product is optional and complements its existing statutory obligations to passengers during irregular operations without replacing or exempting Volaris from legal responsibilities. The coverage is sold through Volaris.com at the time of booking, with pricing varying based on the selected route and other factors.
According to Veronica Nieto Calvo, Director of Ancillary Revenue and Dynamic Pricing at Volaris, the service is designed to add practical flexibility when passengers face unexpected schedule changes, backed by a service guarantee equivalent to the ticket price.
