The executive takes over on November 9 after leading Bodega Aurrerá in Mexico.
Supermarket chain Walmart Chile announced the appointment of Tomás Durandeau as its new chief commercial officer on September 28, 2026. He will take office on November 9, 2026, joining the company's executive committee.
Durandeau returns to Chile after working at Walmart de México y Centroamérica in roles tied to commercial development, customer experience, and omnichannel transformation. Most recently, he served as senior vice president of Bodega Aurrerá, Walmart's largest format in Mexico, overseeing approximately 2,700 stores, more than 90,000 employees, and annual sales above 18 billion dollars.
Before leading Bodega Aurrerá, Durandeau was chief customer officer at Walmart Mexico, reporting directly to the CEO. In that role, he established the company's first Customer Office across five countries, consolidating operations in insights, analytics, marketing, customer experience, and product development.
Earlier in his career, Durandeau worked in marketing at Procter & Gamble across Chile, Australia, and Singapore. He later served as chief data officer and executive committee member at fashion retailer Lojas Renner in Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay, and sat on the executive committee of Chilean retailer SMU, where he led marketing and customer operations and served as general manager of Unidata.
