YPF sets Nov. 26 investment decision for Argentina LNG
The $51 billion plan alongside Eni and XRG targets construction by February 2027.
The Argentina LNG consortium will sign the final investment decision on November 26 for its liquefied natural gas export venture, YPF Chairman and CEO Horacio Marín announced on Thursday in Paris.
YPF is developing the project alongside Italian energy company Eni and XRG, the international unit of the United Arab Emirates firm ADNOC. Final approval will clear the way for construction to begin in February 2027.
The comprehensive plan requires an estimated investment of $51 billion. Around $30 billion will be disbursed across the first four years following the final investment decision. The project involves producing natural gas in Vaca Muerta, transporting it to the coast of Río Negro, and liquefying it through floating units for international export.
Once operational, the initiative could generate up to 40,000 direct and indirect jobs and about $10 billion in annual exports. Horacio Marín stated that the consortium is currently in negotiations to finalize LNG sales contracts with buyers across Asia and Europe.
