Earnings reached $56.05 per share while revenue of $6.6 billion missed expectations.
AutoZone shares rose 6% to $2,977.26 in Tuesday trading following the release of its fourth-quarter results for the period ended August 29. The retailer had previously been down 13% year to date.
Earnings per share reached $56.05, beating the analyst consensus of $54.30 polled by InvestorsHub by $1.75. Net sales totaled $6.6 billion, falling $110 million short of the $6.71 billion forecast.
Phil Daniele, CEO of AutoZone, stated that despite a difficult selling environment in the first eight weeks of the quarter, sales strengthened over the final eight weeks. Daniele added that the retailer remains committed to growing its domestic and international businesses and is well positioned for sales growth in fiscal 2027.
The report lifted other auto parts retailers without quarterly releases of their own. Advance Auto Parts climbed 6% to $43.29, while O'Reilly Automotive rose 4% to $86.24. Meanwhile, broader retail and market benchmarks were essentially flat, with the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund at $112.18 and the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust at $772.84.
