Axon announced new correctional deployments across four US states on October 8, 2026. Agencies in New York, Ohio, Maryland, and North Carolina are integrating tools such as body cameras, TASER devices, airspace security systems, and drones to protect staff and incarcerated individuals.

The New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision deployed Axon Body 4 cameras, Fusus, Fleet in-car video, Dedrone, and Skydio drones across 42 facilities and 15,000 officers, while testing additional artificial intelligence tools. The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction added TASER devices to curb assaults on officers and is piloting artificial intelligence tools for productivity and decision-making.

In Maryland, the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services is rolling out Body 4 cameras across all 17 facilities after a trial saw staff assaults drop 40% in August compared with August 2025.

Body-worn cameras serve as an accountability tool for us and add additional protections for the incarcerated individuals in our custody. We're proud to join other leading correctional institutions across the country in implementing this technology, and are already seeing positive results.

David Greene, Deputy Secretary of Operations, Maryland DPSCS

The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction added TASER 10 energy weapons, Body 4 cameras, Fusus software, Dedrone systems, and Skydio drones. The agency first adopted TASER 10 in 2022, and its Community Supervision department reported an 87% force avoidance rate, resolving 46 out of 53 incidents by show of force alone.
