The new contract settles financially against the Nasdaq Bitcoin Reference Price index.
Brazil's exchange operator B3 has started trading its Bitcoin Future in US Dollars under the ticker BTC. The financially settled contract tracks the Nasdaq Bitcoin Reference Price – Settlement index directly in dollars, removing domestic currency fluctuations from the contract price.
The new derivative trades alongside the existing real-denominated Bitcoin future, which uses the ticker BIT. Marcos Skistymas, Director of Listed Products at B3, stated that the launch expands available tools, letting investors choose between a real-based reference and a direct dollar quote to build hedging, positioning, and arbitrage strategies.
Alongside the contract, B3 rolled out a calendar spread rollover tool under the ticker BC1 to allow position transfers between maturities in a single transaction. The exchange also included the BTC contract in its cryptocurrency market maker program, which offers ten spots to provide continuous liquidity.
