Fire destroys warehouse at Raízen mill in Morro Agudo
The incident caused no injuries at the Vale do Rosário sugar and ethanol plant on October 1.
A fire destroyed the former warehouse shed at Raízen's Vale do Rosário mill in the rural area of Morro Agudo, São Paulo, in the early hours of October 1. Civil Defense reported that the building was completely consumed by the flames, but no injuries occurred.
The blaze started at around 2:00 a.m. Emergency teams, including the Civil Defense and the Fire Department, brought the flames under control and concluded their work around 5:00 a.m. Operations involved a Civil Defense vehicle and a water tanker from the Morro Agudo municipal government.
In a statement, Raízen confirmed that the incident hit the former warehouse at the unit, which produces sugar and ethanol. The company stated that its internal brigade acted immediately to control the fire during the early morning hours, following its standard safety protocols. The causes of the fire remain under investigation.
