RTX secures a $511.5M US Navy radar deal
The modification covers AN/SPY-6(V) hardware and spares through November 2031.
RTX Corporation's business segment, Raytheon, secured a $511.5 million modification contract to exercise options and purchase spares for the production of the AN/SPY-6(V) family of radars and associated hardware. The award was issued by the Naval Sea Systems Command in Washington, D.C.
A major portion of the work will take place in Andover, Massachusetts; San Diego, California; Scottsdale, Arizona; Syracuse, New York; Stafford Springs, Connecticut; and Sykesville, Maryland. The contract is scheduled for completion by November 2031.
The SPY-6 family of naval radars provides air and missile defense against ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, hypersonic missiles, hostile aircraft, and surface ships simultaneously. The radar arrays are integrated across DDG 51 Flight III destroyers, frigates, aircraft carriers, and amphibious warships, and are also being backfitted onto legacy DDG 51 Flight IIA destroyers and carriers.
Market research firm Mordor Intelligence projects a compound annual growth rate of 5.2% for the global military radar market between 2026 and 2031. Alongside the SPY-6, RTX's radar portfolio includes systems such as the AN/TPY-2, AN/APG-79, APG-82(V)1, and GhostEye MR.
