Smart Fit seeks trademark coverage in Peru across nine classes
The Brazilian fitness chain filed with Indecopi to cover supplements, apparel and digital platforms.
Brazilian fitness chain Smartfit Escola de Ginástica e Dança S.A. submitted an application to Peru's Instituto Nacional de Defensa de la Competencia y de la Protección de la Propiedad Intelectual (Indecopi) to protect its brand "SMART FIT" and logo across nine classes of goods and services.
The filing under file number 54508-2026/DSD covers classes 5, 9, 25, 28, 32, 35, 41, 42 and 44. These categories range from nutritional supplements, software, sportswear and fitness equipment to non-alcoholic beverages, retail services, gym operations, SaaS platforms, and health and nutrition consultations. The regulatory filing does not by itself confirm commercial rollouts in the country.
Smart Fit operated 91 locations in Peru as of September 2025 and is evaluating the addition of five to 10 more clubs. The group is also expanding its premium brand Bio Ritmo, which entered Peru in 2025 at El Polo in Surco, added a site in Miraflores, opened a third in La Molina inside Cenco Malls in 2026, and targets five openings this year.
Founded in 2009 by Edgard Corona, who launched Bio Ritmo in São Paulo in 1996, the group had grown to 2,000 units across 16 countries and more than 5 million members. For 2026, the company projected opening more than 340 new gyms regionally. In April 2026, Smart Fit appointed Camilo Sarasti as CEO of the Andean cluster covering Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Peru, Ecuador and Honduras.
