The embedded system brings agentic voice models to vehicles and devices by late 2026.
SoundHound AI announced OASYS Edge on September 24, 2026. The new embedded architecture runs large language model voice AI agents directly on edge hardware, enabling vehicles and smart devices to process voice commands locally without relying on an active internet connection.
The platform allows developers to build intelligent voice agents once and deploy them across cloud, edge, or hybrid environments. By executing processing on the device, the architecture aims to lower cloud infrastructure costs, reduce bandwidth usage, and maintain user privacy by keeping data off external servers.
The local system can perform multi-step tasks, such as offline navigation planning with landmark information or on-device query detection for robotics. SoundHound AI holds more than 750 patents backing its proprietary conversational AI technology.
SoundHound AI plans to deploy OASYS Edge in late 2026. The company is currently offering live demonstrations and will showcase the technology at CES 2027.
