The new Sanford facility will expand production of compact track loaders and telehandlers.
Caterpillar announced on September 30, 2026, plans to invest approximately $1 billion in North Carolina. The capital will expand manufacturing capacity for its Cat Compact business line.
The project centers on a new modern manufacturing facility in Sanford, North Carolina. The plant will boost production of compact track loaders and telehandlers to meet rising demand across construction, landscaping, agriculture, and material handling.
The planned facility will integrate automation, digital production systems, robotics, and advanced logistics capabilities. Caterpillar noted that North Carolina was chosen due to its existing presence in the state, the local workforce, and established manufacturing operations in Sanford.
As demand for compact equipment continues to increase, we're investing to better serve this growing segment of customers.
Caterpillar reported full-year 2025 sales and revenues of $67.6 billion.
