Stryker announced a strategic alliance on Oct. 12, 2026, to invest approximately $400 million, or 300 million British pounds, in preferred equity in UK-based robotics company CMR Surgical. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.

The preferred equity investment grants Stryker an exclusive option to acquire 100% of CMR Surgical's outstanding equity in the future, subject to the terms of the agreement. Stryker will also become the exclusive commercial sales agent in the United States for the Versius surgical robotic portfolio, while CMR Surgical continues to direct commercialization and portfolio development across international markets.

The Versius platform is a second-generation modular system designed for soft-tissue procedures across hospital operating rooms and ambulatory surgical centers. Andy Pierce, group president of MedSurg and Neurotechnology at Stryker, will also join the board of directors of CMR Surgical as part of the collaboration.
