Stryker names COO Spencer Stiles as CEO from 2027
Kevin Lobo will step down after 14 years as CEO to become Executive Chair on January 1, 2027.
Stryker announced on October 6, 2026, that Spencer Stiles will become its Chief Executive Officer on January 1, 2027. Stiles, currently President and Chief Operating Officer, will succeed Kevin Lobo and will also join the company's Board of Directors. Lobo will transition to the role of Executive Chair of the Board.
Lobo has served as CEO since October 2012, having joined Stryker in 2011 and become Chair of the Board in July 2014. During his 14-year tenure at the helm, the company tripled its annual net sales from $8.7 billion in 2012 to more than $26 billion in 2026. Lobo also oversaw more than 60 acquisitions, including the purchase of surgical robotics maker Mako.
Stiles joined Stryker's Endoscopy business in 1999 and has spent nearly three decades at the company. Before taking his current role as President and COO in January 2026, he served as Group President of Orthopaedics, leading divisions including Joint Replacement, Trauma and Extremities, and Digital, Robotics and Enabling Technologies. During his time in leadership, he managed key moves including the acquisition of Wright Medical and the separation of Stryker's spinal implants business.
Sheri McCoy, Lead Independent Director of Stryker's Board of Directors, said the decision represents the outcome of a long-term succession process, noting that Lobo leaves the executive post with the company operating from a position of strength.
