US 30-year Treasury yield hits 24-year high at 5.70%
The rate touched 5.7041% ahead of the Federal Reserve's September meeting minutes.
The US 30-year Treasury yield climbed to a new 24-year high on Wednesday, 7 October 2026. The rate briefly touched 5.7041% ahead of the release of the Federal Reserve meeting minutes from September.
The move came amid a renewed sell-off across global government bond markets. The drop in bond prices reversed the brief relief recorded a day earlier, as investors weighed persistent concerns over rising inflation and public debt levels.
Higher energy costs added further upward pressure on yields. Brent crude futures gained more than 1% on the day, trading near 101.54 dollars per barrel.
