Verizon announced on September 23, 2026, a total investment of $70 million to launch Verizon AI Skills for America. The nationwide initiative provides free artificial intelligence training and support to job seekers, early career professionals, displaced workers, educators, and small businesses.
The commitment combines an additional $50 million investment with Verizon's existing $20 million Reskilling and Career Transition Fund for departing employees. The company noted that premium AI training typically costs more than $700 per person per year.
Verizon is curating a centralized portal with coursework from tech partners including IBM, Google, Microsoft, Anthropic, Coursera, and OpenAI. The company is also collaborating with community organizations, including Local Initiatives Support Corporation, the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship, and Goodwill Industries International, to offer local coaching and curriculum support.
