Walmart opened its fifth next-generation fulfillment center on October 8, 2026, in Stockton, California. The facility spans more than 900,000 square feet and will create more than 1,000 jobs as the company speeds up shipping and delivery across California and the West Coast.

The high-tech site uses automated high-density storage and machine learning to bring items directly to workers. This system condenses the traditional 12-step fulfillment workflow into five steps. Together with its wider logistics network, these advanced centers allow Walmart to reach 95% of the U.S. population with next-day or two-day shipping. The location will also handle orders for third-party merchants through Walmart Fulfillment Services.

Walmart marked the facility's opening by awarding $10,000 in grants split between the Emergency Food Bank of Stockton and Unbound Stockton Community School. In fiscal year 2026, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation contributed over $84.2 million in cash and in-kind gifts to California organizations.

The company currently employs over 102,900 associates across more than 300 stores, clubs, and supply chain facilities in California. In 2025, Walmart spent $36.5 billion with California suppliers, supporting 310,304 supplier jobs. Globally, Walmart reported fiscal year 2026 revenue of $713 billion and employs roughly 2.1 million people.
