Claro gained 39,755 net ported lines in August 2026, widening its lead over competitors.
América Móvil unit Claro expanded its lead in Peru's mobile market, reaching a 33.4% market share at the end of the second quarter of 2026. Data published by telecom regulator Osiptel showed Claro up from 32.2% a year earlier, as the national market closed the quarter with 39.64 million active lines out of 42.18 million total lines in service.
Bitel ranked second with a 24.7% market share, followed by Entel at 22.7% and Movistar at 18.9%. Movistar's retreat deepened after Telefónica sold Telefónica del Perú to Argentina's Integra Tec International for around US$1 million in April 2025 during an insolvency process, with the rebranded Integratel Perú cutting investments by 38.1% in 2025.
Claro maintained the lead in mobile number portability, gaining 102,058 net lines in the first half of 2026, 30,156 in July, and 39,755 in August. Entel placed second with 34,072 net ported lines in the first half, 7,690 in July, and 9,462 in August, backed by a US$221 million 2026 investment plan for fiber optics and 5G after a 1.2% capex cut in 2025. Conversely, Bitel lost 20,736 net lines in July and 26,836 in August, while Movistar shed 17,134 lines in July and posted net losses of 103,221 lines in the first half.
In nationwide 4G network quality, Osiptel reported an average score of 79.84% in August, up from 79.54% in July. Entel led overall quality at 80.8%, followed by Claro at 80%, Bitel at 79.3%, and Movistar at 78.9%. Claro recorded the highest download speed at 13.26 Mbps against the 12.92 Mbps national average, and the lowest packet loss at 0.67% compared to the 0.79% benchmark.
