Empresas Copec plans to double its network of Juan Valdez coffee shops across Chile in the medium term. The brand currently operates 27 stores nationwide, including 19 in the Santiago Metropolitan Region. General Manager María José Gaete indicated that strong store growth will begin showing in 2027, with preliminary progress possible before the end of 2026.

Copec acquired 70% of the Chilean franchise, Promotora de Café Colombia S.A. (Procafecol Chile), from Falabella in March 2026. The purchase was first announced in April 2025 as part of Copec's strategy to expand its food and convenience offerings. Procafecol Colombia, the brand parent, holds the remaining 30% of the local unit. Gaete previously led the business from 2018 to 2023 under Falabella and later joined Copec Retail as project manager in May 2025, where the division also evaluated acquisitions including Sbarro and Streat Burger.

The expansion heavily relies on Copec's retail infrastructure. Nearly 370 of the almost 500 Pronto Copec convenience stores already sell Juan Valdez coffee, mainly across central and southern Chile. Copec expects to complete distribution to northern stores by November 2026, eventually reaching all locations from Arica to Punta Arenas. The company is also expanding into office coffee services, supermarkets, wholesale, and e-commerce.

Regulatory filings from Chile's National Economic Prosecutor (FNE) showed that Juan Valdez held less than a 5% share in specialized coffee shops prior to the deal, while Pronto Copec represented between 10% and 20% in 2025. In retail coffee sales, where Marley Coffee led with over 50%, Juan Valdez contested second place alongside Tresmontes Lucchetti with a market share between 10% and 20%. Juan Valdez currently employs 250 workers and is moving to new corporate offices in the El Bosque business district.
