Google adds Newegg checkout to Gemini and Search
Shoppers in the United States can complete purchases through Google Pay within AI Mode discussions.
Alphabet subsidiary Google integrated Universal Commerce Protocol powered checkout to let shoppers in the United States purchase eligible Newegg products directly inside Gemini and AI Mode in Google Search. The integration allows consumers to buy items through Google Pay on the spot without leaving their conversations.
Under the setup, transactions take place within Google platforms while Newegg serves as the merchant of record, fulfilling and supporting each order. The feature lets users discuss technical specifications and product use cases before checking out.
Ashish Gupta, VP and GM of Merchant Shopping at Google, stated that enabling this checkout system marks a milestone in scaling agentic commerce as the industry builds AI-driven shopping.
Montaque Hou, Chief Information Officer at Newegg, noted that the move brings the retailer's catalog directly into conversational AI environments. Google joins other AI services such as ChatGPT and Perplexity that have previously integrated Newegg products and checkout features.
